The European Week of Regions and Cities and the plenary session of the European Committee of the Regions bring representatives of local and regional authorities from across Europe to Brussels from 12 October. The Pilsen Region is taking part in discussions on the future of European funding, the development of education, and strengthening the role of cities and regions in shaping European policies.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

Strengthening the voice of Czech cities and regions<\/h3>\r\n

On Tuesday, 13 October, representatives of the Pilsen Region took part in a meeting of the Czech National Delegation to the European Committee of the Regions. One of the main topics was the new National and Regional Partnership Plan of the Czech Republic. Its successful implementation will depend on the direct involvement of local and regional authorities, taking into account the needs of individual territories, and linking funding to clear responsibilities.<\/p>\r\n

Discussions also covered renewable energy, research and access to services, as well as the role of cities and regions in addressing the long-term displacement of people from Ukraine, transforming the EU defence industry, and preventing wildfires and droughts.<\/p>\r\n

Artificial intelligence as a challenge for education<\/h3>\r\n

On Wednesday, 14 October, the Pilsen Region Representation in Brussels will host a working meeting on the project \u201cQuantum Readiness in Advanced Manufacturing.\u201d<\/p>\r\n

The project focuses on preparing secondary school students for the rapid development of artificial intelligence and technological change. Its aim is to explore how education can be adapted not only to current needs but also to anticipated developments in the coming years.<\/p>\r\n

The project is being developed by the regional organisation NEXUS in cooperation with partners from Finland, Portugal and T\u00fcrkiye.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

European Funding After 2027<\/h3>\r\n

Another item on Wednesday\u2019s agenda will be a meeting of the Cohesion Alliance within the European Committee of the Regions. The main focus will be the future of EU cohesion policy and the involvement of cities and regions in accessing European funding after 2027.<\/p>\r\n

The proposed legislative framework has raised concerns among local and regional authorities that they could lose the ability to directly influence how European funds are allocated according to the needs of their territories.<\/p>\r\n

The Pilsen Region has therefore supported the Power Regions initiative, launched by Bavaria and joined by more than 80 regions from across the European Union. Its aim is to strengthen the role of regions in decisions shaping the future of European investment.<\/p>\r\n

The Pilsen Region: Actively Engaged in Europe<\/h3>\r\n

Meetings in Brussels provide an opportunity to exchange experiences with international partners and promote issues that are important for the future development of the Pilsen Region. Whether it concerns education, climate challenges or European investment, regions must have a voice in shaping Europe\u2019s future.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
